TIFF´S MARTHA OTTE IS HEADING NORTHERN CHARACTER FESTIVAL JURY

In 2020, the Head of Northern Character International Festival Jury is going to be a representative from Norway. For years, Martha Otte, an expert in festival development, was president of one the largest film festival in Northern Europe - Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF) in Northern Norway.

Martha Otte has been leading TIFF for 15 years. Under her leadership, the festival has become a brand of Northern Norway. Martha was born in California (USA). She graduated from the Department of Philosophy, University of Tromsø and was also leading the Cinema Club of Northern Norway.
In 2014 she was awarded by Troms county for her achievements in the cultural area. In 2019 Martha resigned from her position as President of Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF), however, she is determined to continue working on its development.
Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF) has been Northern Character´s partner for many years. With TIFF´s support, a lot of joint projects have been accomplished at Northern Character Film & TV Festival in Murmansk: Film screenings at an outdoor cinema Scandinavian film makers were introduced to citizens, documentaries shot in the north were shown.
In 2020, XII NORTHERN CHARACTER International Film and TV Festival is going to expand its borders. It starts on March,18 in Zapolyarnyi, in Northern Murmansk region, close to Norway. On March, 19-22 the festival continues in Murmansk, i.e almost in the heart of the Barents Region. The festival program includes screenings of films and TV-programs in competition, special screenings, discussions, workshops by Russian and foreign film directors and documentalists, as well as debates at Northern Character´s Media Forum.
