More than 120 submissions were received, from Russia, Finland, Norway Sweden, Belorus, Armenia, Turkey, Germany, Kazakstan and Estonia. About half of these films and TV-programs were included in the Festival Competition Program.
Russia is on top of the final list: 26 works from various Russian regions were selected for competition. Whereas 15 works from Norway were selected, from Sweden 10, from Finland 8, from Germany 2 and from Canada 1.
- This year we announced 5 competition categories. “Short Fiction Film” became the most popular category, in which more than 20 works will be competing. We also got a lot of submissions in the category “Documentary Film - 60 min”, where 17 competitors are selected, says Festival President Svetlana Soldatova, who took part in the Selection Committee as well.
In her opinion, the works are of very high level. Many of the documentaries and short films will be remembered by the audience due to their masterfully captured beauty of the north, musical accompaniment and unusual characters.
This year, for the first time, full-length fiction films will take part in the competition program. The audience will also get to watch 9 documentaries of 90 minutes, as well as 8 TV-programs in competition.
