XII NORTHERN CHARACTER INTERNATIONAL FILM & TV FESTIVAL

March 18-22, 2020 in Zapolyarnyi and Murmansk

Filmmakers and TV-journalists from the whole Barents Region are invited to participate and submit their works within January, 15 2020.

5 categories:

Documentary (90 min),

Documentary (up to 60 min),

TV-program (up to 60 min),

Short Fiction (up to 30 min),

Full-length Fiction.

In 2020 XII NORTHERN CHARACTER International Film & TV-festival will expand its borders: Starting March 18 in the city of Zapolyarnyj close to Norway, continuing March 19-21 in Murmansk city, in the heart of the Barents Region.

The Festival program includes screening of films and TV-programs in competition, special screenings, film talks, master classes by Russian and foreign filmmakers and documentalists and not to forget - NORTHERN CHARACTER´s debate arena Media Forum.

XII NORTHERN CHARACTER foresees Future North

This 12th year running, NORTHERN CHARACTER suggests film makers and journalists to look into the future and try to answer the question: How will life in the North be like in 30 years?

The main part of the works in competition come from Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. The filmmakers focus on people, who live in the North, appreciating it´s rough beauty and even inspiring others to overcome difficulties.

NORTHERN CHARACTER is a unique festival, because it unites both TV-journalists and filmmakers from northern Scandinavia, Finland and Russia. At Northern Character, their works are evaluated by the international Festival Jury of professionals from all four countries.

Categories

TV-journalists and film makers are suggested to submit their works in the following categories: TV-program (up to 60 min), Documentary (90 min), Documentary (up to 60 min), Short Fiction Film (up to 30 min). A newcomer in 2020 will be the category Feature Film (full-length), presenting films from all four countries.
