The Festival Organizing Committee announces that acceptance of submissions to Northern Character´s competition program is now completed.

In total, 121 works from Russia, Finland, Norway, Belarus, Armenia, Turkey, Germany, Kazakhstan and Estonia have been submitted. Most of the submissions, as usual, come from Russian journalists and filmmakers — 83 in all, and almost half of them are short fiction films.

Documentary Film (up to 60 min) has become one of the most popular categories, with more than 40 submissions from various countries.

- Now the Selection Committee will determine the list of works to be included in the competition program. They will compete for Northern Character´s various awards. The prize winners will be selected during the festival, by a jury of film & TV professionals from Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Head of Northern Character Festival Jury 2020 is the acknowledged film expert Martha Otte from Norway, says Festival President Svetlana Soldatova.

A new-comer in the competition program this year is the category Full-length Fiction Film.

The festival program includes screenings of films and TV-programs in competition, special screenings, discussions, workshops by Russian and foreign film directors and documentalists, as well as debates at Northern Character´s Media Forum.
