The year is 1935. A polar research station on Wrangell Island, a Soviet outpost in the very far North. The protagonist of the film, inspector Nicolai Zherdev from the Northeast Passage department arrives here to investigate the tragic death of doctor Wolfson. From the very first day the inspector understands that this case will not be easy: all facts tell that the doctor has been murdered. Risking his career and own life, and contrary to his authorities’ orders, inspector Zherdev starts a dangerous enquiry.
